A dear friend recently had surgery. I planned to stop by with flowers the day after her procedure to check on her and see if there was anything I could do to help. But the traffic on the route I had planned was really bad. I took a detour, which led me away from the store where I had intended to get the flowers. I found myself instead in a part of the city with few places where I could easily pick up flowers. I made a game time decision to get her--and her family--delicious cupcakes instead.
When I dropped them off, her four-year-old daughter asked if that was the treat that she had been promised. I looked a bit confused. My friend explained that she had spoken with her husband on his way home from picking up their daughter, and said she sure could go for a cupcake. He came straight home with their daughter, and no treat. My friend got over her minor disappointment, and then was tickled pink when I showed up shortly thereafter with four cupcakes for the three of them (I was expecting her mom to still be there). We smiled and laughed and praised God for the ways in which He works things out. I also thought, “That’s synchronicity.”
I am grateful God used me this last week to bring a smile to the face of a dear friend. Here are the other things I am celebrating:
