When life gets busy, I focus on what is most urgent (the phone call that must be made, the report that must be written, the class that must be covered). It makes me very productive. But that efficiency comes at the cost of my personal life and well-being. I often and neglect the things that matter most but don't have the same level of urgency--like writing my blog posts, exercising, and sleeping well.
I've have done my best this summer to put self-care at the top of the priority list. Here's some of the things I am celebrating:
Getting enough sleep at night is still a challenge. Right now, I am reading a trashy novel that I just can't put down--even after midnight has come and gone. Combined with my sleep apnea that wakes me up every few hours, I am not getting the 7-8 hours of sleep I need.
But I have a new apnea device, and hopefully it will be working within the next few weeks after a period of adjustment. And Grey will be finished within a week or so. Then, I will try once more to get back to a good bedtime routine. In the meantime, I am celebrating a bunch of self-care victories!
