Fall has arrived in the Nation's Capitol. The days are cooler, and the sun sets a little earlier each day. I used to be able to start my 8:30pm class while it was still light outside. Now, it's dark before my 7:00pm class begins. These shorter days usually trigger my winter blues. Last year, I had one of my best winters ever, and I hope to repeat that this year. One of the strategies I used was participating in the 100 Happy Days Challenge. Every day, for 100 days, I took a picture of something that brought a smile to my face and posted it to Instagram.
Here are the 7 or so things that made me smile over the last week:
Wow! What a week! It began with a celebration for my grandmother's 84th birthday and ended with my two-hour yoga thesis workshop. There was lots of good things in between:
I live a very blessed life, and am grateful for it.
I celebrated a huge milestone last week. My yoga studio--Serenity Place DC—has been open for a year! I invited my friends, neighbors and students to a simple party as a way to mark this momentous occasion twelve years in the making.
This week, I celebrated the first birthday of Serenity Place DC, your neighborhood yoga studio. Last summer, I unexpectedly found myself without a job. I looked for a new one for a few weeks, but decided perhaps I should use the opportunity to pursue a far-fetched dream I had been holding since a mini yoga retreat in January 2009. We have so far to go as a yoga studio, but I am grateful for these things:
